New warehouses have been built in Dodoma, Babati, Tabora, Kigoma, Ruvuma, Simiyu, Mtwara, Geita, Mwanza and Morogoro.
Tunduru South MP Daimu Mpakate (CCM) inquired about the government’s plans to build rural food storage infrastructure when he asked Mr Silinde about it.
According to Mr Silinde, the government is currently conducting an assessment to identify both public and private storage facilities that contribute to food security.
A government investment guideline will be issued upon completion of the assessment to support the development and modernization of food storage infrastructure throughout the country.
